On February 2, 2011, it was reported on the main page of whitestripes.com that the duo has decided to part ways. White stated that it was not due to health issues or artistic differences but there were a “myriad of reasons” [via Wikipedia]

The last band to break-up and affect me this greatly; Sound Garden. However, I believe the break-up of the White Stripes is a greater loss. Ok, I said it and now I am thinking about it further. Is it a loss?

If you look at Jack White’s involvment/project/career , whatever is the best way to put it, you’ll see that he will continue to mold the sound of the 00’s.

The White Stripes was not the only band to call it quits this week. Gorillaz have had there differences. As CoS reports, it’s been long overdue. I enjoyed their melodic, house, pop-rock sound but not as much as I enjoyed them illustrated in videos.
